The Tsui Laboratory at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia is seeking a Data Scientist to conduct research on natural language processing and machine learning. Potential applicants, please contact Dr. Tsui directly at tsuif@chop.edu.

Under the direction of Fuchiang (Rich) Tsui, PhD, the Lab works closely with hospital and frontline clinicians to collect and analyze big clinical data that leads to new hypotheses, patient outcome predictions, management, and risk reduction. The Tsui Lab translates academic research into practice by applying our models to domains of clinical informatics, population informatics, and precision medicine through a comprehensive data-driven approach using electronic health record (EHR) data, including structured (e.g., diagnosis, meds, etc.), unstructured (narrative notes), high-frequency waveform data (e.g., ECG, EEG), time-series data, genomic data, and environmental/community data.

The lab team's research interests include clinical informatics, natural language processing, artificial intelligence and machine learning, population informatics (biosurveillance), data science, data engineering, signal processing, mobile healthcare (mHealth), data warehouse, and large real-time clinical production systems.

The Tsui Lab, which is is affiliated with the Department of Biomedical and Health Information at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, hosts international visiting scholars to work on various biomedical informatics research project and welcomes research collaboration.
